Portsmouth Sunday
Div 1 AFC GOP Xi's 5 - 1 AFC Denmead
GOP played their best football of the season
as they dispatched Denmead with ease at Rugby Camp. Captain and Man of the Match James Clark opened the scoring, toeing
in from close range after a long throw from Billy Waters wasnt dealt with by the Denmead defence. Croatian Leo Milasinovic
doubled the lead again from close range. Denmead had a man sent off in the first half for violent conduct and the game
should have been out of sight at half time. However, Denmead made it 2-1 just after the restart with a cracker from 20
yards. Thereafter, GOP stepped it up and it was only a matter of time before GOP extended their lead. John Waite back
after injury & starting his first match since April's Cup Final, fed Kev Brassell who finished first time. Billy Waters
and Jim Hunt wrapped up the scoring to send GOP second in the table.

US look oh so sixy!
US reserves extended their winning run in the league to 7 with
an emphatic win over their Wiltshire based opponents. A strong line up was once again named, in came Mike Hart up front for
Ed Pratt, Tom Davies slotted in at right back for ever present Tevfik Edin who was called up to the 1st team, Lee
Johnson played alongside skipper Brian Hewitt in centre midfield and John Moylan replaced Matt Peachy in goal.
It didn’t take long for the home side to stamp their
authority on the game with a quick double from top scorer Gary Thomas, the 2nd from the spot.
As they pressed forward at every opportunity US looked a constant threat with shots raining down regularly from corners and
open play, however it didn’t take long for the old cracks to appear in the team’s ability to defend in particular
the long ball. With too many headers being lost, the full backs caught out of position and the centre halves looking flat
too often, it was a case of when not if Aldermaston would pull a goal back, and it came when US tried unsuccessfully to play
the visitors offside allowing the away side’s striker 1 on 1 with and he finished nicely past keeper Moylan. Shortly
before the break midfielder Johnson provided a cushion for his side as he reacted first to tap in at the
front post from a Davies corner.
H.T. USPFC 3-1 AFC Aldermaston
The 2nd half continued as it began with the hosts
dominating the match, chances went begging time and time again but on the plus side they looked more comfortable defensively
with Moylan having little to do. Having dribbled past 1 too many players Johnson appeared to lose possession
whilst on the edge of Aldermaston’s box, however the ball bounced back toward him and he curled a great shot into the
top corner. The lead was increased courtesy of an own goal by the visitors following some intense pressure
from Hart, and Thomas sealed the win completing his hat-trick and the scoring with a quality volley from
10 yards following Hart’s cross from wide.
US move back into 2nd spot thanks to this win and
manager Danny Phillips had this to say “we put in a disciplined performance and
once the 3rd goal went in there was never any doubt in my mind that we would win. I’m pleased with the fact
that we never picked up any bookings and I’m pleased for Gary, when he picks up the ball you always sense that he’s
going to do something a bit special, he’s now scored in each of our last 8 games and his 3 week ban is something we
could do without, however we should have enough quality to see us through. The talent is there for all to see and many of
my players will go on to play at a higher level if they continue to progress, Christian Clift made his debut today coming
on as a sub, and for a 16 year old to play like he did with passion, aggression and intelligence, is an example to everyone,
that is what football should be about”.
The next league game is on the 6th of Dec at home
to bottom of the league Whitchurch United, although tough games await US, on this form a top 3 spot and maybe even promotion
must be a realistic target.
Wymering
FC 3-0 Hythe Aztecs Hants Intermediate Cup 1/11/08
Wymering
travelled to Dibden to play Hythe Aztecs in the 3rd round of the Hampshire Cup. The game got underway in drizzling rain but
in the first five minutes some neat work on the left by Roger Moore saw him square to ball to Lee Cooper on the dge of the
area. Cooper made space for himself and hit a low drive which beat the keper to the bottome corner to make the score 1-0.
The rest of the half saw Wymering defend well and create a few chances. However the highlight between all this was the wymering
manager trying to cope with the worsening conditions while running the line. Twice he was trying to back track to keep up
with play only to slip flat on his back and get covered in mud and soaking wet through. that will teach him for forgetting
his football boots. a minute before half time a corner from Wymering saw the Hythe Aztecs keeper fumble the ball and Lee
Cooper was on hand to knock the ball in the net to make the halftime score 2-0. the second half saw Lee Cooper and Roger
Moore run the Hythe defence ragged. Roger Moore twice turned the defenders inside out and was borught down only for the ref
to wave away any penalty appeals. Some good defending from Jody Howard, Sean Ellis and Dave Hutchings saw the Hythe attacks
snuffed out. The torrential rain made it hard work for everybody in midfield with Ray Tyrrell being thepick of the bunch with
his work on the right. with 15 minutes to go Roger moore again turned the left back inside out. He chipped the ball over the
centre back and Bradley Willis was on hand at the far post to make the final score 3-0.
Fleet Spurs Res 2-3 United Services Portsmouth Res Wessex League Division 2 1/11/08
Services march
on to victory as reserves set a new club record of 6 consecutive league wins!
The visitors were dealt an early blow before the match
even began with not one but 2 players dropping out through injury the subs bench looked light with just 1 body, and with manager
Danny Phillips absent the question was could U.S. continue their fine league form against their hosts. The sailors were out
for revenge having lost against Fleet at home earlier in the season and in form midfielder Dale Holmes grabbed his 7th
league goal with a good finish to put his team ahead. Last season’s manager’s player of the year Holmes has started
all 11 games and has been inspirational so far, netting in each of U.S.’s last 5 league games and creating lots of opportunities,
it surely won’t be long until he is playing at a higher level. In awful conditions Fleet pulled 1 back and U.S. increased
courtesy of an own goal to go in at the break 2-1 up.
H.T. Fleet Spurs Res 1-2 USPFC Res
The sailors knew that a win today and other results going
their way could move them into 2nd place in the league, and they did just that as Gary Thomas finally scored from
close range to seal the points despite a consolation from Fleet.
Top scorer Thomas has scored in each of the team’s
last 7 games and is another who teammates look to for inspiration. However the speedy frontman faces a 21 day ban for a sending
off in the Portsmouth Cup and will be a huge loss to the team in the coming games if U.S. are unsuccessful in appealing. With
the highest goals scored record and 6 straight league wins under their belts Utd Services are on a high, last season was an
achievement in being the first U.S. team to reach a cup final in 30 years, only time will tell in terms of what could be achieved
this season!
Rovers Reunited 13-0
Stamshaw Spartans Portsmouth Saturday League Div 2 1/11/08
In a game heavily influenced by the weather Rovers kicked off with the wind at their backs and were quickly into their
stride forcing a succession of corners. This set the tone for the game with the Stamshaw goal under constant
pressure but their keeper held firm making some excellent saves from Paul Benton and Dave Porter.
The breakthrough
finally came after twenty minutes with Andy Bates scoring his first goal for seven years with a fine 20 yard strike. This
was followed a few minutes later as Dave Cotton picked out fellow full back Gary Fitzgerald on the edge of the area to rifle
the ball into the bottom corner. Dave Cotton the slotted home the third after being put through by Dave Porter and then
Ben Sutherland volleyed home from a Paul Benton corner. Rovers maintained the pressure as they realised the second half
might be a different story kicking into the wind and just before the half time whistle Dave Cotton headed home his second
and Rovers fifth of the game.
Luck it seemed was on Rovers side as just as the second half got underway the wind
dropped! As a result it was business as usual for Reunited as they continued to add to their total. As the rain came down
Peter Cotton, Kieran Lawson and Neil Harrison all got their first goals for the club while Gary Fitzgerald added his
second and Kristian Doggrell hit four second half goals! Then right at the death Neil Whitecross pulled off a smart
save to deny Stamshaw a consolation strike. This would have at least been some reward for Stamshaw as their heads never
dropped in spite of the atrocious conditions and heavy defeat.

Wymering FC 5-1
Old Portsmuthians Portsmouth Sat Premier League
25/11/08
a fixture that normally ends
up quite close. However Wymering were having none of that in the first half. A hig cross in the Old Ports saw Lee Cooper on
the turn score to make it 1-0. after 20 minutes two near identical goals saw som cross field balls latched on to by Lee
Cooper to make it 2-0 and then 3 -0. Old Ports had their keeper to thank for keping the score respectable as he came out
on top in three one on one situations. He also made two quick reaction save. Then in the 35 minute a through ball from Jon
Taylor saw Roger Moore run on bad beat the keeper to make the score 4-0. five minutes before half time a ball was chipped
in to Lee Cooper and from fully 45 yards he chested it looked up and volleyed it, beating the keeper and making the halftime
score 5-0. In the second half wymering squandered a few more chances to extend their lead. Old Ports then played 3 up front
but the Wymering stayed with their favoured 352 formation to make them do some defending which they haven't had to do much
of in most games this season! Wymering defended their goal well. It was only in the last minute that a very harsh looking
penalty was given against Lee Cooper. Old Ports scored to make the final score 5-1. But Lee Cooper was not too downhearted
as he chekkily chipped in with "i dont mind the penalty, i won the game 4-1 on my own!"
Rovers Reunited
vs Carberry Portsmouth Saturday League Div 2
25/10/08
Although playing into a stiff
breeze Rovers made a confident start knocking the ball around nicely but half way through the first period Rovers shot themselves
in the foot. A mix up between defender Mark Cammerer and keeper Neil Whitecross gifted Carberry the lead as the ball
rolled into the back of the net off Cammerer's bald pate.
This mistake was compounded shortly after when a further
defensive lapse allowed Carberry to double their lead and a further Carberry strike shortly before half time gave Rovers
a second half mountain to climb.
With the wind at their backs Reunited went for it and spent long periods camped in
the Carberry half while restricting their opponents to the occasional counter attack. They finally broke through with
twenty five minutes remaining when Paul Benton was clipped in the box leaving Ben Sutherland to make no mistake firing
in from the spot.
Rovers continued to pile on the pressure and with fifteen minutes left on the clock new signing
Kieran Lawson came off the bench and headed over with his first touch in a Rovers shirt when it seemed easier to score. Meanwhile headers
from Dave Cotton, Mark Cammerer and Gary Fitzgerald all came close from set plays.
With time running out another set
piece was sent into the far post by Mark Cammerer and headed back across the box by Paul Benton for Gary Fitzgerald to nod
home and in the dying seconds a last gasp effort from Kristian Doggrell was saved on the line. However the three goal
head start proved a bridge too far for Rovers as Carberry held on for the three points.
USPFC Res 5 – 2 Andover New Street Wessex
League Combination Div 2 25/10/08
The sailors jumped above their visitors in the league to go 4th
with a game in hand over the teams in 2nd and 3rd place, and when you consider the poor start to the
season losing their first two games, the sailors have done tremendously well to bounce back with fighting spirit to win 5
league games in a row.
US took the lead early in the 1st half through a rare Mlu
Sibanda header, but were soon pulled back to 1-1 as an unmarked Street player headed from a corner, the lead was
temporarily restored through captain Brian Hewitt as he swept home a Dale Holmes knock down from close range
(his trademark finish). Despite continuing to press Andover and look to increase their lead US were mainly restricted to long
range shots, and it was a long range shot that proved to be their downfall as a Peach of a shot from Andover’s Prince
Xhamela flew high into US keeper Peachey’s top right corner, a royal shot from a prince!
H.T 2-2
As expected of previous performances US upped the tempo and threatened constantly
winning corner after corner and when the ideal opportunity was presented to Dale Holmes from the spot after the midfielder
was brought down, his tame effort was saved by the keeper and Sibanda failed to score the rebound. Eventually in the 70th
minute Gary Thomas headed home at the back post to finally add to his tally of 10 goals in all competitions.
Centre halves Jon Waite and Matt Magro played well together commanding their defensive third and dealing with the high balls
pumped up to the greens two big frontmen. The introduction of subs Sam Armstrong, Danny Thomas and Simon Jacobs saw US continue
to dominate the match and the lead was extended through Holmes who made amends for his penalty miss to finish
well with a low shot from 10 yds, and Sibanda sealed it late on with a narrow angled shot to make it 5-2
to the Burnaby Rd outfit.
F.T 5-2
US are an incredible force going forward at times and once again proved this
today, along with being the leagues top scorers with 32 goals in 7 games. However they struggle at times to make the most
of their superiority, for example today at least 6 or 7 goals should have been scored.....before half time! And of course
defending has proved to be an issue with too many simple goals being conceded, and against the top teams in the league that
can’t be allowed to continue. With manager Danny Phillips on holiday next week let’s hope they can keep the winning
run going in his absence by returning from Fleet Spurs with 3 points and increase a club record for consecutive league
wins to 6..........
Peter Symonds 3rd X1
5 - 3 Portsmouth College 3rd X1
Hants College League 22/10/08
Despite putting in a decent 1st half performance
Pompey found themselves 2 goals down at half time courtesy of 2 defensive howlers. Firstly keeper James (Eminem) Gardener
fumbled a long range effort and nosed the ball into his own net! Then Ash Brown (for breakfast) completely
missed a simple clearance under no pressure on the edge of his box, allowing the Symonds striker to finish easily. Pompey
did have enough chances to score but just couldn’t deliver the goods, Parr, Oldfield, Chowdrey and Zaki all guilty of
failing to find the net in the opening 45.
After the break the hosts began to put more pressure on
the Pompey defence and enjoyed slightly more possession, but with a decent ref for the 2nd half play was allowed
to continue more often allowing the visitor’s physical side to prosper, and with Pompey quick to attack on the break
continued to impress. Zaki’s movement up front was proving too much for the Symonds defence as he led them on a merry
dance, often finding himself in good scoring positions but firing wide...... way, way wide! Although Symonds scored 3 more
goals, Pompey matched this with Zaki grabbing a couple and Chandler getting in on the act (with quite possibly the worst penalty
seen for some time)! An encouraging performance and a lot of positives to be taken from the match, had we defended better
and just taken a couple of those many chances it may have been a different story.
So Pompey may have travelled home on the mini bus as losers,
but they remain the peoples champions, the voice of a generation, filling the hearts of every student with hope and joy, idolised
by legions of female (and maybe in some cases male) groupies and stalkers. They arrived back at the college to be greeted
by..............well, no-one really, but then again who needs fans? Once they start winning, or maybe even drawing, then the
whole world will sit up and take notice of Dan Lattimor, Chris Collins and Tom Ryan. It won’t be Oscar Ferneywho any
more but “wow there goes Oscarinho, star of the 3rd team . Teenagers will no longer ask James Oldfield for
tips on acting or expressing themselves, instead they will be asking him for tips on how to play football. One day......one
day!
Wymering vs St
Helena Bobs Portsmouth Saturday League Div 2 18/10/08
Wymering were expecting
a much tougher test this week against newly promoted St Helena. Four changes from the previos game looked to have backfired. The first real attack
by St helena saw a cross from the right beat the Wymering defenders and a fine header at the far post put St Helena into a 1-0 lead. This lasted until
the 20th minute when good work from Roger Moore saw his cross deflected in to the net by the St
Helena defender to make the score 1-1. Wymering
then upped the pace and a pass from Joel
Sibley to Roger Moore saw the Wymering forward beat two defenders and score to make it 2-1. Five minutes later a similar move saw Roger Moore make the score 3-1. St helena were still making it hard work for Wymering and a good move by them saw a rasping low shot turned away by keeper Lee Ryan but it went straight to the St Helena forward who knocked it in to make the score 3-2. Wymering then scored 3 in ten minutes through Lee Cooper (2) and Gary Bryant fisnhing off his own move To make the half time score 6-2. The second half became the Lee Cooper show as he proceeded to rattle in 5 more
goals. The pick of the bunch being A 25 yard
shot from the left hand side of the field into the far corner. Wymering also missed a few more chances with a tiring Roger Moore the main villain. The final scored
ended up at 11-2. Another double figured result for the Wymering boys
Southsea Town vs Rovers Reunited Portsmouth Saturday League Div 2 18/10/08
Rovers Maintain Pressure On Leaders
After an early warning when Southsea
Town hit the bar with a long range effort, Rovers Reunited were soon into their stride and within fifteen minutes had opened
up a two goal lead. Firstly Dave Porter benefitted from a long Dave Cotton throw which was knocked on by Ashley
Cammerer for him to swivel on a sixpence and tuck a low shot into the far corner just beyond the keeper's reach. Soon
after Paul Benton was put through by a pinpoint crossfield pass from Ben Sutherland and although his first strike was
parried by the keeper he made no mistake with his follow up effort. Rovers continued to pressure the Southsea back
line but it was Southsea who struck back against the run of play bundling in a corner on the half hour mark following a Denton
error as he failed to track his man running in from deep. The second half began fairly evenly but as Reunited started
to dominate once again, Kristian Doggrell was sent clear by Ashley Cammerer to calmly slot home and restore Rovers two goal
advantage. Rovers then began to sit back on their lead and could have been made to pay as Dave 'hack 'em down' Porter turned
from hero to villain when blatantly tripping a Southsea striker in the area. However, man of the match Neil Whitecross made
another superb trademark penalty save and although Southsea netted late on it proved to be no more than a consolation strike.
This result moved Rovers up to second
in the table courtesy of the Kurds having a week off to welcome to the UK another twenty new squad members and Carberry
slipping up against Inter Solent. However Rovers will need to put in a much improved performance next Saturday in a top of
the table six pointer against the aforementioned Carberry.

Icomm 4-5 Alan & Wright FC Portsmouth Sunday League Div 1
19/10/08
Alan and Wright picked up their first win of the league season as they pipped Icomm in an eleven
goal thriller. Icomm never really got started early on and they were made to pay as they found themselves 2-0 behind. Chances
were missed by both sides in the latter part of the first half but none were taken so it stayed 2-0 until the break. The second half was only seconds old when the scoreline
was extended to 3-0 as Andy Duffin scored a spectacular headed own goal. Icomm needed to hit back quickly and a change of
personnel saw Adrian Potter and Simon Jacobs enter the fray, upping the tempo and taking the game to the opposition. The new
no-nonsense, get-stuck-at-em approach immediately paid dividends and Icomm won a penalty which Jamie McCormick slotted home.
Then straight from the restart Icomm won the ball back and scored another one via Ibou Kaba. Wright went down the other
end and scored again to open up another 2 goal advantage, but Icomm hit back via Steve Fleet to narrow the advantage. In this topsy-turvy game Icomm drew the scores level as
Kaba got his second with a lob. Unbelievably Icomm took the lead for the first time in the game as Dean Rutter scored a superb
first time volley from 25 yards. It looked like Icomm were going to take the points despite not playing their best, however,
in the last 10 minutes Wright scored twice more and held on for a tight 6-5 win.
Romsey Town Res 1-1 Petersfield Town Res Wessex Combination League Div 2
18/10/08
Petersfield finally stopped the rot with a point away at bottom of the table Romsey. With a long list of players missing,
Town knew they would have to scrap to take anything from this game.
The 1st half was very evenly matched with very few chances. The chance of most note was a Bard Grant header which hit
the outside of the post. Town came in at half time at 0-0 but confident of taking all 3 points.
Town began the brighter of the 2 sides in the 2nd half and looked more likely to score. Being on top paid off in the
68th minute when Brad Grant should of scored but the rebound spun to James Gough who thundered the ball in low and hard into
the bottom corner of the net.
Jay Lovick and Sam Reed came on to give the side a more defensive look, with Marc Chivers introduced up front to hold
the ball up. 5 minutes from time and Brad Grant shot straight at the kepper from 15 yards out when perhaps slipping an unmarked
Lovick in would have sealed the win.
Controversy struck with the 90 minutes all but up, a ball got played in from the right of the Petersfield box and the
centre forward and nathan Bray challenged for the ball at the front post, the forward nipped in front and put his shot wide,
the players fell in a heap only for the referee to award a penalty for a foul that no one else in the ground saw, Romsey converted
and made it 1-1 and that is how it finished.
Alex Bone after the game had this to say, "Very frustrating, we played well today and battled incredibly hard only for
it to all be snatched from us. There are plenty of positives to take forwards and I am confident we can start to pick
up points starting with Totton & Eling next Saturday."

Senior Cup 15/10/08
Last years finalists knocked out of
competition in 8 goal thriller!
In a physical encounter at Five Heads last years
finalists US were knocked out despite putting up a brave battle. Gary Thomas took the lead in the first 10
mins only for Steve Duffin to equalise for D&P minutes later, in an end to end game in which both teams struggled to keep
possession for long it was always going to be a case of who would defend the best against the long ball. Thomas
scored once again for the visitors only for D&P to level once again following a long ball over the top that US keeper
Matt Fisher failed to gather properly, the ball bounced off his knee and fell straight to the host’s striker who calmly
finished from close range.
H.T. D&P 2 USPFC Res 2
Despite the hosts coming out once again with all
guns blazing shooting down the sloped pitch, it was US who probably undeservedly took the lead once more through Ed
Pratt’s well taken penalty, this followed a handball to net his 11th goal of the season. With
US failing to keep hold of the ball and D&P’s hunger to win the game it wasn’t long before the score was 3-3.
15 minutes from time as Thomas chased a ball down moving away from goal, the D&P keeper appeared to pull him back, Thomas
pushed the keeper off and the goalie then swung a punch that missed Thomas by quite a distance. The referee to even the home
side’s amazement not only gave a free kick to D&P but sent off both players for violent conduct! This decision was
to prove crucial as following two more defensive mix ups at the back D&P scored twice to earn themselves a deserved victory
and a place in the next round. US must look long and hard at themselves and decide whether or not they want to win things................
or simply become a mediocre side.

Rovers Reunited 3 Gosport FC 1 Father Purcell Cup 11/10/08
Premier division Gosport's early season woes continued as they threw away an early lead and went out of the Purcell Cup
to a confident Rovers side. Rovers were stunned by a Gosport goal inside the first two minutes. Dan Sharpe's first cross from
the left was blocked, but his second found Sam Bache totally unmarked at the back post and he bundled the ball home from
close range. It was nearly 2-0 five minutes later - a Paul Clark free-kick was headed back into the path of Charlie Eames,
but his beautifully-flighted effort came back off the crossbar. After Rovers' Ashley Cammerer had blasted inches wide, they
equalised after twenty minutes with a stunning goal. Paul Benton laid the ball back to Ben Sutherland twenty five yards
out, and he fired an unstoppable effort into the top corner.Rovers were playing with increased confidence and Dave Cotton
twice went close with header, before Sutherland gave them the lead. His corner from the left went over both defenders and
goalkeeper and nestled nicely inside the far post. It was 3-1 before the break. Cammerer picked up a loose ball out of
defence and his powerful low shot from outside the box squeezed in at the near post. After a quiet start to the second
half, Gosport's cause was dealt a potentially fatal blow when James Morey was sent off. Upset at not being awarded a free-kick,
he saw red for an ugly hack on an opponent seconds later. The goalmouth action was limited, although Sharpe
did have one shot go just over, and then fired straight at Gosport keeper Neil Standley. Standley denied Sharpe again
after 70 minutes with a fine block as Rovers searched for the killer goal. At the other end, Eames' diverted effort provided
an easy catch for Neil Whitecross in the Rovers goal. But Rovers' defence remained solid, although Eames did get in a goal-bound
header, which Whitecross was again equal to. With time running out, Sutherland found an opening for a hat-trick effort, but
his shot rose well over the bar.

Pickwick Youth A 12 v Granley Rovers 1
It was a beautiful afternoon and we had
the luxury of all players being available.
Pickwick started brightly, but an early
scare when Granley hit the crossbar and the ball flicked over. Pickwick however
continued to impress with an early chance for Harvey White whose shot was saved, but Zack Smith’s pass forward found
Stanlie Hopkins who lobbed the keeper to put Pickwick 1-0 up. Connor Hood came
close to making it two, but put the ball just wide as Pickwick piled on the pressure with two close off-side calls. Pickwick were passing and getting the ball up to Stan and Harvey who both had several scoring opportunities,
but it was Reece Hughes who made it two after his break down the wing. Reece’s
electric pace down the wing was causing Granley all sorts of problems and Reece got his second of the day to put Pickwick
3-0 up. However, another scare came from Granleys’s kick off when they
shot from the half way line to catch Derek Harding off his line, the ball hit the corner of the frame and was cleared by the
defenders! George Martin and Malick Doumbia also came close to getting their
names on the score card, but it was Luke Nixon who got the fourth when he put the ball over the keeper and into the net just
before half time.

were quickly dissolved when within minutes Dan Errington scored to make it 5-0 and it was Dan who set up Malick for the sixth! Malick was also involved in the seventh goal when he broke down the wing, crossed
the ball to Alvin Mubiru who slammed the ball into the goal! Pickwick were flying
and Zack’s pass over the top of the defence again found Malick who side-footed it into the net to bring the tally to
8. This was getting embarrassing! Harvey
wasn’t going to miss his opportunity either and he came down the wing, beat the defender, and coolly placed the ball
into the corner of the net. A great goal kick Derek over the top to Malick who
rounded the keeper and scored his hat-trick and Pickwick’s tenth goal!!! George
picked up a cross to score his first goal back with the team to make it eleven and Connor Hood who had worked tirelessly down
the wing got his reward when he put Pickwick 12-0 up. A consolation goal for
Cranleigh towards the end of the match after a formation change which involved the defenders playing up front and the strikers
in defence brought the final scoreline to 12-1.
What a performance and good to see so many
different names on the score sheet.

Fawley AFC Res 1 vs US Portsmouth FC Res 10 Wessex Combination League 2 11/10/08
Having won on this ground 7-2 last year and already
defeating the oilmen 5-1 barely a month ago, US arrived in a confident mood looking to extend their 3 game winning run in
the league. 16 year old keeper Matt Fisher made an error inside the first 5 minutes and was lucky to escape without a booking
clumsily giving away a penalty as he took out the Fawley striker, luckily for US the resultant penalty was high wide and handsome.
With the visitors in a cavalier mood it didn’t take long for the goals to start pouring in, Dean Elvin played a delightful
ball over the top to Gary Thomas who made no mistake from a tight angle. Ed Pratt
had a couple of good chances but on both occasions took too many touches and failed to finish. Dale Holmes then set Gary Thomas free down the left, he turned his man well before lobbing the keeper brilliantly with his left foot
from the edge of the box. A rare Fawley attack saw right back Edin miss control a high ball and the home side’s frontman
saw his low powerful shot squeeze underneath the body of the advancing Fisher, there goes the clean sheet! Midfielder Elvin couldn’t believe his luck when his long range shot slipped through the keeper’s hands to make
it 3-1. Striker Thomas grabbed his hat trick as he finished from close range.
Next, winger Holmes did well beating 2 men and scoring from the edge of the box.
Skipper Lee Johnson fired home an absolute rocket from 25 yards into the roof
of the net with his famous left foot, and amazingly 5 minutes later right footed Johnson
repeated this feat by scoring a curler from the edge of the box with his left foot again, (it never rains but it pours)!
H.T. Fawley 1 US
Portsmouth 7
US continued with their attacking approach winning
corner after corner and inevitably stretched their lead through Holmes scored
his 2nd from close range. Despite constantly threatening US struggled to find the net until 15 minutes from the
end, top scorer Pratt finally getting in on the act with a simple tap in. The
sailors playing in red today were simply awesome, however the Fawley manager’s face was red with rage as Pratt tapped home from close range again to make it double figures for the visitors, as US moved into 4th
place in the league. Defenders Edin, Greenwood, Peachey and Magro handled pretty much everything Fawley had to throw at them
and midfielder Sturt ran his socks off for the cause, subs Waite, Dolo and Sibanda made an impact coming off the bench and
with Hart, Hewitt, Armstrong, Gibbs, Poxton (all good enough for US 1st team) still to return competition for places is terrific.
With a tough trip in the Portsmouth Senior cup on Wed, US know things won’t be quite as easy, however they can take
a lot of confidence from this memorable display.
Portsmouth College 3rds vs Fareham College 2nds Hants College League
8/10/08
The best 1st half performance of the season so far with 2 new glimmers of hope to the season in Dan McGhee and Johnny Parr,
the football was good to watch going forward as we created chance after chance without seriously troubling the Fareham keeper,
however as so often is the case with this team we allowed the visitors to hit us on the break and failed to deal with the
long balls. To be fair to Fareham they did have some good players and their long ball style up to the quick strikers was too
much for Pompey to handle. However in my opinion we didn't deserve to be 3-1 down at H.T. Dan McGhee with his first goal under
the belt (hopefully the first of many for the 3rds, or will he join the dark side with Johnny Parr and move up to the 2nd
team?). The 2nd half was a poor display by all and despite the attempts of 2 or 3 players was disappointing, it seems
whenever the 4th goal goes in the heads of too many players drop along with the commitment, the midfield need to learn to
track back as well as going forward. Although 3 of the goals shouldn't have been allowed (2 offsides and a handball), Fareham
did deserve to win, but the 3rd team should have enough quality to turn things around and hopefully get a couple of wins by
the end of the season.
Meon Milton U9s B Team vs Pickwick U9s A Team Portsmouth Youth League
B Division 5/10/08
At the fourth attempt Meon finally won their first game
of the season, against WPT they were deservedly beaten, at Gosport Borough they narrowly lost despite battling bravely, and
it was a similar story last week in the Portsmouth Cup as they matched Havant and Waterlooville (from the league above) for
much of the game only to lose 3-0, all of these were A teams too! Today Meon showed that when they want to they can score
goals with the best of them, Harry McCarthy led the way with 4 as he proved to
be the ‘fox in the box’, Charlie Collins scored from close range and
Joe Tappenden scored his 2nd goal of the season with a powerful shot.
Pickwick fought back with a couple of good goals and despite trailing for most of the game never gave up, we’ve had
some terrific games against them over the past couple of years, they have a good set of players and parents and its always
a joy to play them win, lose or draw. The Pickwick manager voted Meon defender Dylan Fletcher man of the match.
H&W U9As vs Meon Milton U9As Portsmouth Youth A League 5/10/08
For 18 long months Meon have managed to win every competitive
game they have played except from tournaments, where they have a record of only 3 defeats in 22 games (2 of which
were against older boys and the other loss was on penalties), in fact twice they managed to beat H&W at tournaments during
the summer.
All good things must come to an end though and Meon were taught
a harsh lesson this weeekend by the Hawks, with success comes expectation and you can't win em all! No matter
how many games you have won in the past or how good a team you are, if you don't put in the effort and make the right decisions
in games..............sooner or later you will lose. H&W played superbly and were deservedly winning at H.T. 4-1, Jumping
Jack Beaumont pulling 1 back for the yellows, and despite the bitter rain and having no subs, Meon can have
no excuses as they went on to lose the contest 5-1, their first defeat in the A League this season, oh well, 9 points
out of 12 aint bad! Well done H&W.
Wymering FC vs
Prospect FC Hants Intermediate Cup 4/10/08
Wymering first game in this
season’s Hampshire Cup saw them drawn against Prospect from their own division. Fifteen minutes into the first half Prospect took the lead. A low shot from the
edge of the area into the far corner opened
the scoring for 1-0. The next fifteen
minutes were a pretty scrappy affair. Then a corner from Ray Tyrrell was flicked on by Roger Moore and Louis Rees’ late run was not picked up and he ran in to
head the ball home to make the score 1-1. The first half finished all square with both teams evenly matched. Within the first five minutes of the second half Wymering had two good chances but Roger Moore couldn’t
quite convert them. On the hour mark
good work down the left by Jon Taylor saw him square the ball to Roger Moore on the edge of the area. He beat two defenders and crossed
the ball. Ray Tyrell was inches from making contact at the near post but Jay Wood was on hand at the far post to make the score 2-1. Wymering missed a couple more chances and nearly regretted it. Good work by Prospect
saw a dipping shot tipped over the
bar by Lee Ryan. With ten minutes
to go Ray Tyrrell combined with Lee Cooper on the left. Cooper cut in and shot from the edge of the area. Quick thinking by Roger Moore saw him divert the shot
away from the keeper to make the score 3-1. Wymering comfortably saw out the rest of the game to progress into the 3rd round of the cup.
Portchester FC v Hedge End Town FC
Hants Junior B Cup 4/10/08
A game of 2 halves is an old cliche but an apt one here. We had the VERY strong wind in the 1st half and NEVER once took
advantage of it. Hedge End Town did defend well but we had no penetration at all. It then took just 3 minutes of the 2nd half
for them to take advantage of the wind and they had a shot from 25 yard that just sailed in the wind right to the back of
the net. John Cole, another stand in keeper due to the Fireman's injury, had no chance. Then to keep up with the weather,
the flood gates opened and our heads dropped yet again. A bit of bad news, the stand in sub did a cracking save in the penalty
area to earn himself a straight red card. Fortunately the penalty flew over the bar. But 5 nil is never a nice way to exit
the Hants Cup.

AFC Totton Res 4 vs U.S. Portsmouth FC Res 3
Hants Intermediate Cup 4/10/2008
On a wet, slopey Testwood pitch US Portsmouth were sent
crashing out of the Hampshire Cup at the 1st hurdle for the 2nd time in 2 years, ending their 4 match
unbeaten run and any hopes of progressing in the competition. The sailors were a credit to themselves and their club as they
matched their higher league opposition throughout the contest. U.S. found themselves behind after 20 minutes when a high cross
was spilled by the keeper and the Totton striker was first to react and finish from close range. Dan Greenwood equalised within 5 minutes from a brilliantly taken free kick low past the home side’s keeper,
however despite several good opportunities to take the lead U.S trailed once again as another defensive mix up saw a Totton
striker finish well from a one on one.
H.T. AFC Totton
2 U.S.Portsmouth FC 1
A nightmare start to the 2nd half saw U.S. concede
2 goals within 15 minutes, the first was mainly due to centre half Jon Waites slip on an invisible banana skin as he attempted
to usher the striker out wide, this allowed another one on one that was finished well, the 2nd was from the spot
as Neville Farley needlessly conceded a penalty. Despite failing to keep possession in midfield as well as their hosts, the
Burnaby Road outfit always looked the more dangerous on the break with Dale Holmes causing havoc and giving the Stags left
back all sorts of problems, a mixture of not finishing their chances and individual errors at the back cost the visitors dearly.
A late Gary Thomas angled shot and Ed Pratt (penalty) pulled goals back
for the visitors to make 4-3 and an end to end finish to the match and U.S. can hold their heads high as they once again proved
they can match teams from a higher division.

Horndean Hawks under 12s moved into the next round of the portsmouth cup with a
17-0 win over Purbrook Athletic.Goals were scored by Jake Gale 3 Sam Hunt 3 Harry Ward 3 Callum Goldring 3 Sean Tee 2 Lewis
Gill 2 Jack Rendal 1.
Fleur De Lys 2 vs Meon Milton 3
Portsmouth Youth A League 28/9/08
This was to be one of the hardest matches to date.
Meon Blues faced a determined Fluers Team. The match started rather slowly with both teams struggling for the upper hand,
which Meon took with both hands due to a wonderful strike by Harry Gadd, having gained a foot hold on the game Meon settled
down for a battle to the end. Fleurs had numerous attacks and shoots on goal which was excellently guarded by Meon's on form
goal keeper THE CAT (Ethan Chapman) doing a great job for his team. Meon's defensive line was holding strong, the midfield
and strikers were linking up very well and causing a lot of problems on the attack. Meon struck gold again with a second goal
coming courtesy of an own goal, Gadd crossed to Harry McCarthy who pressured the Fleurs defender into clearing the ball into
his own net from 5yds out. Fluers grabbed one back through Ethan Jones to leave the score at half time 2-1 to Meon.
The second half started much the same as the first half a never ending battle at either end. Finally a break through we hit
a third goal from Harry McCarthy with his first of the campaign to take it to 3-1. Fluers unrelenting push to score paid
off in the last 5 mins with a long range effort being parried away by THE CAT only to be bundled in by Fleurs striker
Macca Ware to make the last 5 mins very exciting. Meon dug in and took the win and the 3 points to remain top of the
table.
Wymering vs Hayling
Billy Portsmouth Saturday Premier League
27/9/08
This was the first time the
two clubs had ever played. Both teams had scored 6 and 7 goals in their last games. Wymering started the game determined to show the new boys what it was all about in the top division. In the first five minutes Lee Cooper beat a couple of
players down the wing, he pulled the
ball back to the edge of the area and Bradley Willis curled the ball into the far corner to make it 1-0. Wymering then had a goal disallowed when roger Moore was deemed to be offside. Half hour into the game Wymering then scored two goals in a minute. Jay Woods run and cross was met by Roger Moore to make the score 2-0. From the kick
off Wymering regained possession and Roger Moore beat 3 players and curled
one in from the edge of the area to make it 3-0. A goal line reaction save from Lee Ryan kept the score at 3-0 at half time. A couple of minutes from the restart and Lee Cooper picked the ball up on the
edge of the area. He went past two
defenders, wrong footed the keeper and slotted in to make the score 4-0. Ten minutes later roger Moore played a
ball over the top for Lee Cooper to run onto and make it 5-0. A few minutes later a trip on Roger Moore resulted in a penalty which was coolly slotted home by Brad Willis
for his second of the game and a 6-0 scoreline. The record books had to come out to find out when he last scored two in a game. The manager then decided to give all 3 subs a decent run out and made all three
changes at the same time. This did
not disrupt the flow of the game. Louie Rees picked the ball up in the Hayling Billy half, ran with the it and hit a low show from the edge of the area to make
the score 7-0. After some good interplay between Joel Sibley and Louie Rees, the cross from Rees was met by Lee Cooper to make the score 8-0. Lee Cooper made it 9-0 meeting a cross from Ray Tyrrell and then
completed the rout as he scored his fifth to make the final score 10-0.
It’s a good start to
the season for Wymering but can they keep it up.........
Andover New Street Res 3-0 Petersfield Town Res Wessex Combination League
2 27/9/08
Town came into this tough looking away fixture with a host of regular players missing including goalkeeper Stuart Burt.
However Field started well and passed the ball well in the opening half hour. Paul Cartwright had a free kick saved and
Craig Horrocks had a goal ruled out because the referee had already blown for a free kick rather than play the advantage.
On 34 minutes completely against the run of play Town let in a soft goal when the defence failed to deal with a cross and
the ball was headed home. Half time 1-0
New Street came out the brighter after half time and 10 minutes in added a second again through sloppy defensive work
as they failed to deal with a long straight ball, 2-0. Town then got back on top but struggled to create openings, Keith martin
having a free kick zip across the edge of the 6 yard box. 18 minutes from time and Field's misery was compounded with
a penalty decision that even the New Street player said wasn't that led to a 3rd and that was the game. Josh Sheehan had a
late chance to grab a consolation but blazed his effort over the bar.
"We were the better side for long periods of this game but struggled to penetrate their defence. We lost concentration
on 2 occasions and were made to pay with 2 sloppy goals. We have a Hampshire Cup game next week which will give us an opportunity
to take our minds off league action for a week or two." Alex Bone, Reserve Manager.

United Services Portsmouth FC Res vs Romsey Town FC Res Wessex League
Combination 2 27/9/08
U.S. Portsmouth Res continued their good run
of form by beating last seasons 4th placed side Romsey and making it 4 wins in 4 games. It was a physical encounter that
saw Romsey’s Mason sent off alongside the home side’s Magro and Dolo and plenty of strong challenges from both
teams. US had the better of the 1st half with strikes from Gary Thomas and Dale Holmes and went into the break
2-0 up. Romsey crept back into the game however with a fine lob and a close range finish as they battled hard to take the
points. US took the lead once again through sub Ed Pratt only for Romsey to pull level within minutes. The home side weren’t
to be denied however as top scorer Pratt grabbed the winner from 18 yds with barely 5 minutes left following Thomas’
pass, and despite some inept defending and poor discipline US will be grateful to take 3 points from the game and move up
to 5th in the table. With no game next week the team can look forward to
the following weeks visit to bottom of the league Fawley where they will hope to make it 5 wins in a row.
Brading Town Res vs USPFC Res Wessex Combination League Cup Round
2 Vicarage Lane 23/9/08
For the 1st
time in over 5 years US Portsmouth Res finally find success on the island!
US returned from the I.O.W. with the win they deserved after beating Brading on pens. Having lost in the 1st round by the same team,
at vicarage lane, in the competition last year and suffering defeat in both league fixtures last season the sailors finally
defeated last season’s cup finalists. Brading must have gone into the match with confidence having won all three of
their opening league fixtures keeping clean sheets in each game.
Following some good individual play Dale Holmes twice managed
to put Gary Thomas through one on one with the keeper and the big striker finished well to score both
goals, with Weller scoring for Brading in between. Once again Peachey was solid in the
centre of defence alongside Magro who played some lovely passes around the park. As with Petersfield last Sat US had
been the dominant team in the first half only to find themselves tiring and finishing the weaker side in the final half hour
of the game, and despite a host of chances to wrap up the tie allowed Brading in with Williams scoring an equaliser for the
hosts. With extra time goalless and the final score 2-2 AET, US found themselves in yet another penalty shootout,
luckily it wasn’t to end in defeat like last seasons Portsmouth Cup Final, and despite Paul Killpatrick missing his
P.K. everyone else scored as keeper Gibbs saved twice to send the Burnaby Rd outfit into the next round, and a tough trip
to higher league Bashley Res.
The penalty scorers for US were: Magro, Peachey,
Pratt and Johnson
Gosport Borough u9A 2 Meon Milton U9B 1
Portsmouth Youth B League 21/9/08 In
a hard fought game which could of gone either way Gosport just edged out Meon B at Monkton Park. Meon were in the
ascendancy in the first half and took the lead on ten minutes when Conor Morley's corner was knocked in by Joe Tappenden. Gosport
were the bigger side physically but it was against the run of play when a deep cross was intercepted by Morley only to result
in an unfortunate own goal midway through the second period. Meon looked more likely to grab a winner and both Alex
Hawkins and Charlie Collins had half chances to score. It would the home side who graabed the win however, with a goal with
five minutes remaining. The win gives Goport maximum points from their opening two games.
Meon Milton U9s vs USPFC U9s Portsmouth Youth League
A Div 21/9/08
Meon Blue’s 2nd league
outing and 1st home game, was to be a very fruitful one at Furze Lane against a hungry and determined United
Services. They made it very difficult for Meon in the 1st half to play their usual passing football closing
us down and stopping our attacks very quickly. Despite this we ended the 1st half 3-1 up. With more goals in mind
and the upper edge we quickly went to work breaking down United Services with some very cleaver passing and positioning combined
with great knock on headers and long range shooting from all the team we finished the game worthy 9-1 winners, with 4 goals
from BIG MAC, 3 from JUMPING JACK FLASH, 1 for GADDO, and 1 for TED THE BULLDOZER.
P.S
Meon U9 Blues would like to thank both sets of parents and spectators for their RESPECT and staying in our spectators
viewing area.
Wymering vs Segensworth
Portsmouth Saturday Premier League 20/9/08
Managerless Wymering continued their unbeaten
start to the season as they overcame Segensworth to win 6-1 and remain top of the table with a rapidly increasing
goal difference!
The scorers were Alex Miroy -2, Brad Willis, Reg Willis, Ray Tyrell and Lee Cooper
Although
USPFC travelled the short journey up the A3 to their local rivals knowing they had a good chance of leapfrogging them in the
table, with a number of players missing from last week’s victory over Fawley and only 2 untried players on the bench,
they would need to be on top of their game. Last seasons top scorer Gaz Thomas was unavailable once again through work commitments,
centre half Paul Killpatrick, Mlu Sibanda and Sam Armstrong were also unavailable, captain Brian Hewitt still banned, Danny
Thomas called up to the 1st team, and regular keeper Lewis Gibbs was injured.
It came as a shock to both teams when the sailors took the lead in the first minute
of the game, Mike Hart raced on to Ed Pratt’s flick from a long ball, and the speedy striker rounded
the keeper and tapped in from close range. US went on to dominate the 1st half and it seemed every time they entered
the Petersfield box they would score as the home side’s defence were at 6s and 7s with one another, great movement and
excellent combination play through the middle of the park saw rampant US take off where they left last week. Further goals
were scored by top scorer Ed Pratt who bagged a hat-trick with top class finishing as the US defence coped
with everything that had been thrown at them, 16yr old debutant Matt Fisher performed bravely in goal and left the shell shocked
Love Lane outfit wondering what they needed to do as they scuttled off into the dressing room at half time 4-0 down.
Whatever
was said by Fields manager Alex Bone seemed to do the trick as the home side looked much more lively and competed with an
added edge all around the park as they battled hard to take something from the game, they got their rewards 30 mins into the
2nd half, left back Adam Poxton (ankle) and Mike Hart (cramp) had been forced off the pitch and on came centre
half Adam Boulton and Lewis Gibbs to make their outfield debuts, both weren’t at fault however as US conceded 2 goals
in succession. At 4-2 and the hot sun beating down it was Petersfield that adapted best finishing the 2nd half
stronger, however victory was not to be denied to USPFC as Dale Holmes wrapped up the points with a tidy
finish into the bottom corner of the net making it 5-2 for the Burnaby Rd outfit. The sailors travel to Brading Town on Tuesday
in the League Cup and competition for places will be fierce! Petersfield are at home to Winchester City and it will be case
of going back to the drawing board for Reserve team manager 'Boner'.
FA Vase.
Brading Town 4 v 2 US Portsmouth. 20/9/08 ( This was USPFC’s home game )
(Greening 3, Armstrong 1.)

A very entertaining game, US Pompey, (imho) were the best footballing side to visit Vicarage Lane this season. They had
several very good players, the number 8 in particular. Some of their midfield play was a pleasure to watch, fortunately for
BTFC, their forwards did not match their build up play.
BTFC, worked very hard though and created more chances than their counterparts. Greening finally put 3 of his many chances
away, 2 of these were absolute crackers. The scoring was completed when Armstrong also fired home a belter.
Putting the ball in the back of the net is the aim of the game and BTFC did that today.
Meon Milton U9A vs Gosport FC
Portsmouth Youth A League 14/9/2008
Meon As long waited 1st
game of the season proved not to be a
disappointment. Playing against a formidable
and strong Gosport Fc U9’s, having never played them before we were unsure what to expect, we found a very determined
team.
Meon started slowly conceding the first
goal. But after re-grouping we quickly hit back with a wonderful strike from all of 20 yards out by Big Mac the nestled neatly
into the back of the net, and even with an unrelenting barrage of shoots from Meon’s
Jack, Harry and H, Meon were unfortunate to loose another goal. When going
in at half time 2-1 down, it was safe to say some of the team’s heads were down but after a moral boosting team talk
by the gaffer, the boys were raring to go. The second half belonged to Meon Blues with attack after attack. We finally
took the lead about half way through the second half 3-2. When one of their strikers broke through our back 2 and managed
to fire one home. Gosport nearly took the lead again when their striker had a one on one opportunity with meon’s goalkeeper
Ethan (the cat) but was denied by a great save. With goals from Ted and Harry, the scores were tied and with only 10 mins
to play, Meon pushed again wave after wave of attack but to no avail, extra time came and in the 2nd minute of
injury
time came Meon’s reward a beautifully
struck match winning looping shot from Alfie from the half way line which managed to squeeze in between the keepers outstretched
hands and the cross bar.. GOAL! After composing themselves the team pulled together to close all doors to ensure the victory
was theirs. Final whistle 4-3 to Meon U9’s.
Meon Milton B vs Wimbledon
Park Tigers A Portsmouth Youth Under 9 B League 14/9/08
Meon came up against a strong Wimbledon Park side the their opening fixture
in the B league. The Tigers quickly established authority and were 3-0 up within 15 minutes. In fact Meons first attempt on
goal came in the penultimate minute of the half. Meon's best chance came soon after the restart, but Toby Phillips'
penalty thudded against the bar. Despite good perfomances from Joe Dawson in goal and defender Joe Tappenden.
WPT scored a further three second half goals to run out worthy winners.
It was encouraging to see both sets of parents applauding good play from each
teams, often we forget that both sets of players at that age deserve encouragement and consolation when required.
USPFC Reserves vs Fawley AFC Reserves Wessex League Combination Division 2 13th
Sep 2008
US Reserves
were looking to win their first game of the season as they hosted the oilmen of Fawley, and they didn’t disappoint as
they produced a display of football worthy of the facilities at Burnaby Rd.
Despite
slipping to an unlucky 1-0 defeat in their opening defeat of the season at Blackfield and Langley, US had no excuses for their
second defeat, conceding 4 goals at home to Fleet Spurs, with some Laurel and Hardy defending. So with last season’s
top scorer Gary Thomas away with the first team the question was where were the goals going to come from? Would it be lanky
speed demon Mike Hart, Matt Peachy aka Mr Tickle (cos his arms and legs go everywhere), or would it be Vice Captain Lee Johnson
hero of last seasons cup final would he pop up with a goal....... probably not!
US started
brightly with both wingers Sanga Dolo and Mlueki Sibanda (no........ seriously!), troubling their full backs throughout the
match, Dale Holmes was playing off the frontmen linking play superbly and Skipper Johnson sat in front of the back four breaking
up the play. Adam Poxton on his return from 1st team action defended well and supported down the left. The 3 debutants
impressed, Dolo on the right got around the pitch well, almost as if powered by Duracell, Hart was a constant threat up front
(till he got cramp) and John Waite in particular was dominating at the centre of defence and will prove to be a valuable signing.
Mr Tickle got the 1st with a cheeky back heel from 6yds out, the 2nd was a superb diving header from
a Fawley defender. The 3rd was another own goal, with chances being missed on a regular basis, Mr Tickle in goal
for keeper Lewis (sicknote) Gibbs coming off injured, and Hart off injured it was up to the old gunslingers to come off the
bench and show the young hopefuls how its done. First Ed Pratt finished from close range, and then Sam Armstrong curled a
superb effort round the keeper from just inside the box, the visitors scored a late consolation past the helpless Peachy in
goal from a corner to make the score 5-1. The football was a joy to watch and it was pleasing to see the
lads decision making improve greatly compared to the first 2 matches in terms of when to pass/dribble. Paul Killpatrick and
Tevfik Edin performed well once again, and the other subs Kevin Sherlock, Danny Thomas and Nathan Atta-Panin (i kid you not)
were on hand to step in when needed.
